¡Cayeron por inocentes!

Looking for a way to sneak comprehensible input and culture in on April Fools’ Day? I start my lesson with a brief reading on Día de los Inocentes, serious as can be. We discuss culture, history, vocabulary, and more. Soon enough, my students are lulled into the lesson, forgetting what day it is. Then I distribute a corresponding word search, but mirror-imaged! The look on their faces is so rich. A blend of this lady is crazy mixed with, how on earth will I do this. Then ever so slowly, their faces turn to smiles and laughter as they remember it’s April Fools’ Day. I shout, “Inocentes!” and then pass out the correct word search. Try it, they’ll love it! It’s free!
